Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum

My Journey Into the Wilds of Chicago

Activation

Visual Feeder’s first Nature Museum project with Mike McDonald was an immersive projection exhibition at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. Built around McDonald’s photography and his connection to Chicago’s natural landscapes, the project transformed still imagery into a large-scale environmental experience. Internal project materials describe the exhibition as an immersive projection concept featuring Mike MacDonald’s photography.

Creative Direction

The installation expanded McDonald’s photography beyond the traditional frame, using projection design to create a cinematic and spatial presentation. The project materials included exhibition room renders and ceiling projection concepts, showing how the artwork would surround visitors within the museum environment.

Visitor Experience

The experience invited visitors to step into McDonald’s view of Chicago’s wild spaces, bringing together art, nature, and immersive media inside a cultural institution. Related bio wall materials centered the story around Mike McDonald and the theme “My Journey into the Wilds of Chicago.”
